Golden Medina

The Golden Medina expand on Steve Marcus’ collection of artworks from the “through the hat” series which was exhibited for 6 months at the Jewish Museum of Florida- FIU in 2019. This new series of work is inspired by underground comics and Jewish Wisdom from the shtetl was also photo documented by photographer and legendary darkroom master, Sid Kaplan of “Vanishing NY” fame, who is also an east side resident. Marcus’ welcomes the viewer to go further and deeper into his world of contemporary kosher folk art and stroll through into his humorous depictions of every day Jewish life while exposing a few of life’s great secrets. He playfully expresses the insightfulness of the wisdom of the sages and the local kosher butcher making The Golden Medina not only contemporary art but visually classic good advice.
